We’ve all heard the expression “April showers bring May flowers.” Often, there’s hidden truth to common sayings like these. Right now, it may seem like we are stuck in an “April shower,” a time of disappointment or confusion, while we patiently wait for “May flowers” to bloom and produce a sense of hope and refreshment.
Today, we wave farewell to another amazing summer at Kamp! How is it already time to say “see ya later?!”
This summer, we spent time on the lake and countless hours on the blob. We threw the football and kicked around the soccer ball with our best friends. We ran, biked, climbed, slid, swan and chowed down in the dining hall. We adventured, partied and prayed. We cried, laughed, cheered and worshipped our Savior with other like-minded Kampers, Directors and Staffers. We were reminded again that summer at Kamp is life experienced to the fullest.
But now, it’s time to walk out of the gates of Kamp and into the doors of our schools, homes and everyday lives. The question is—What do we take with us when we leave?
We pray that time at Kamp strengthened the faith of every Kamper who joined us this summer. Because of that, we challenge our Kampers to find ways to bring the values of Kamp into everyday life.
If you learned how to make friends and invite new people into your group, practice that at school! If you learned how to be a better athlete or leader, seek out opportunities to leverage those skills in a new club or activity. Above all, remember to passionately and selflessly bring I’m Third along in all of your experiences and encounters. How can you put Jesus first and others second when going to school, an afterschool job or a sports practice? How can you share the love of Jesus with your families, friends and neighbors?
The book of Jeremiah promises us that living in this way is rather simple and straightforward, if we just ask.
“You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.”
We are promised that when we seek the face of Jesus, he shows up for us in incredible ways, both big and small. He wants to be in your school, work, practice and home. He’s all-in, 100% ready for you. Are you ready to see what He has in store for you?
"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.”
Now, you may be wondering, “how do I ask?” Below are a few practical ways to kick start your walk with Jesus this school year.
Spend time in prayer.
Ask God to show up in every space of your life! Spend intentional quiet time with Him, just as you did during Kamp.
Fill yourself with good things.
Philippians 4:8 instructs us to fill our mind with “good, lovely, admirable, honorable” things! This is founded on having positive, Godly influences in our lives. Filling our hearts and minds with positivity can also mean reading God’s word, listening to worship music or telling yourself positive truths about who God has made you to be.
Join an I’m Third Group.
We are made for community! Walking with Jesus is sweet when we do it together, and the community you have at Kamp wants to do that with you, all year round! If you’d like to jump in on that community, check out this link to learn more about I’m Third Groups.
With summer ending and fall approaching, it’s time to take what we learned at Kanakuk and turn it into a #BeliefBeyondKamp. Are you ready?
