Summer is in full swing! Kampers have been here for over a week, which means that Term 1 is more than halfway done at K-West.
“God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all … but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another.”
1 John 1:5-7
The countdown is on for this summer 2019 at Kanakuk, and we are so excited to share more about this summer’s theme: SHINE!
In our theme verse from 1 John 1:5-7, we are reminded that God is Light. His goodness, holiness, and love all shine brilliantly. With each closer look we take at our Savior, these aspects shine more and more brightly.
What’s even better? We get to know Him and have an intimate relationship with our source of this Light. This summer will be full of new friendships and memories made as we walk together in the Light and abide in it’s life-changing glow.
To explain the word “Shine” further, Joe shares an acronym and poem in today’s video to dive further into the meaning of the theme:
S-pirit: Everything that we do at Kamp reflects and glorifies God. We shine when His Light lives within us!
H-appy: A summer at Kamp makes up the best days of the year. And as we like to say, it’s the Happiest Place on Earth!
I-dentity: When we look at Colossians 3:10, we learn about our “new self” that is renewed by knowing Christ. Our identity is found in Him alone, and how free are we because of that!
N-ow: We know from Matthew 6:10 that we don’t have to wait in order to see God moving and working, but instead we get to see him today in our daily lives! “Your kingdom come. Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” – Matthew 6:10
E-ternal: Joe White said it best: “Kamp is only the beginning.” This summer is going to be full of life-changing moments with eternal impact, as we hear the sweet sound of the Kamp bell ringing, signifying Kampers who have come to know Jesus and his sweet, powerful Light.
We are so excited to see how this summer SHINES! Who’s with us?
