Summer is in full swing! Kampers have been here for over a week, which means that Term 1 is more than halfway done at K-West. The Lord has been and is moving in this place just as he has been faithful to do in the past. We are thankful that Kamp belongs to him and that he gets to use staff here to proclaim the truth of the gospel to Kampers each day. This past week has been one full of fun, laughter, and growth. Whether in blob class, on the ropes course, or in an evening talk, Kampers are growing in confidence in who the Lord says they are and they are building friendships that could last a lifetime!
Kanakuk Kamps chooses an overarching theme each summer for all of the Kamps, and this summer the theme is Let It Shine. It comes from 1 John 1:7, “If we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.” Kampers are being taught what it looks like to live in the light and not the darkness. There is a Verse of the Day each day at K-West and each verse is taught to the Kampers in the morning and repeatedly gone over during the beginning of classes. This summer, each verse falls underneath the ‘light’ theme. For example, Kampers learned about the Bible being a guiding light to our path and they learned about how, in Christ, we have the Light of Life. They are learning the importance of what it looks like to live in the light and not in the darkness. In Christ, we have freedom and forgiveness of sin because we are given Jesus, the Light of the World. Because of this, as it says in Matthew 5:16, we are called to “Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”
Even though it has only been one week, lights are shining bright here at K-West. We are excited to see how the Lord continues to move in Kamper’s hearts for the rest of this term and for the rest of the summer, teaching them how to flee from darkness, walk in light, and shine that light before others all for the glorification of Christ Jesus. The Lord has called us out of darkness, not of our own merit, but because of his graciousness alone, and because of this, we get to walk in obedience to him. We are thankful to God for all he has done for us! More updates to come soon!
