The morning starts like most mornings here at kamp, the kitichies and maintenance up early getting ready for the day.
The Morning Show brings laughter and teaching as the Kampers are waking up. At the Morning Show, there are different skits done by the leadership team. It may be Taco Tuesday, Water Balloon Wednesday, Fist Pump Friday, or a variety of other fun skits, but whatever the silly skit is, it always bring joy to the morning!
After the skit we move into a time of teaching. Here, the kids are learning how to memorize Psalm 1 in a fun way! Everyone starts off in a squatting attack position. Then Shay Robbins, our Men’s Director, will say the key word and the Kampers will pop up with the next part of the verse when it is their turn. There are also motions with each part to help the Kampers remember the Psalm.
The bold is the key word and then follows what the Kampers say:
How blessed: is the man
Who: does not walk in the counsel of the wicked,
Nor: stand in the path of sinners,
Nor: sit in the seat of scoffers!
But his: delight
Is in: the law of the Lord,
And: in His law
He: meditates day and night.
He will be like: a tree firmly planted by streams of water,
Which: yields its fruit in its season
And: its leaf does not wither;
And: in whatever he does, he prospers.
The wicked: are not so,
But they: are like chaff which the wind drives away.
Therefore: the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
Nor sinners: in the assembly of the righteous.
For the Lord: knows the way of the righteous,
But: the way of the wicked will perish.
It is so fun seeing the kids learn how to memorize scripture. Psalm 40:8 says, “I delight to do Your will, O my God; Your Law is within my heart.” We want out Kampers to leave knowing scripture and allowing it to transform their lives!
