Fourth of July | Kanakuk Kamps
Fourth of July

The morning starts like most mornings here at kamp, the kitichies and maintenance up early getting ready for the day. Then slowly, counselors roll out of bed for some time to sit quietly before the Kampers wake up. Most mornings they wake up to music playing softly, but on the Fourth of July it is the sound of a ton of fireworks going off in the cabin area as their alarm. Then the speakers blare "I'm  Proud to be an American" as sleepy kiddos search their trucks for the perfect outfit to represent the red, white and blue! After the Kampers throw on their clothes, they are met with a bomb pop as they head to the flag. Each morning we have a wake-up show to get the kampers excited about the day ahead and this year we had it at the pool with a special Boston Tea party reenactment to represent the freedom our country now has! Throughout the day we play music, do a bunch of water activities, eat more bomb pops and watermelon. The whole day is full of fun activities! In the evening we have a picnic and got to enjoy lots of root beer, watermelon and a HUGE water balloon fight- you could say it was a pretty epic day. BUT it isn't even close to being over yet!! The night ends with an INCREDIBLE firework show with K-Kountry and Kauai! At Kamp we take any celebration seriously, but especially ones that represent the freedom we have been blessed with in this country.
