Pray. Proclaim. Practice.
From the moment we’re born, our entire life is measured by growth. As newborns, we’re weighed to the ounce and measured to the quarter of an inch. As we get older, we attend check-up after check-up to ensure that we are growing at a healthy rate. In our homes, we often have a wall dedicated to a series of tally marks documenting height as we grow throughout childhood.
Characters of Courage: Esther
Courage. When it comes to characters who are constantly courageous, superheroes are the quickest to come to mind. In movies and on TV, these heroes never seem afraid to do whatever it takes to save the day. Superheros are fearless in the face of danger, because they’re confident in their power. They don’t have to be afraid, because they know they have the strength to rise to any challenge.
Imagine this: you’re at a theme park with friends, preparing to step aboard your favorite roller coaster. It’s the one that begins with stomach-wrenching drop and races through multiple flips, twists and turns. In those few moments (maybe even seconds!) on the ride, your entire being is surrendered to where the coaster takes you. You give up control and enjoy the freedom of flying through the air, following the coaster’s set path.
It’s a new school year, Kampers! As we settle into our new routines, let us be reminded of God’s provision among the changing seasons. Summer is a time for growth, but fall is a time for harvest—a time for us to reap God’s blessings and dwell in his evergreen faithfulness. In this excitement of a fresh start, have you stopped to consider what God envisions for your life in the year ahead?
With school back in session and sports, homework, and activities in full swing, life is speeding up and the slow pace of summer is falling quickly behind us. While it’s great to be involved and active, we can easily get so busy that we forget to slow down and spend time with the One who loves us most.
