"To me, being a Game Changer means to risk everything to bring Jesus into the game." - Joe White
Game Changers are more than decision-makers. Game Changer are risk-takers. They do not simply choose which way to turn, but rather they re-route the course entirely. They abandon the old plan for a new one, leading others on a better path in the hopes of arriving at the intended destination.
Being a Game Changer takes more than a desire to lead. It takes courage - moving forward in spite of obstacles, fear and doubt. The word “courage” is derived from the Latin word cor, meaning, “heart.” Acting courageously requires a heart-change, an inner determination to reach a goal despite the impending obstacles.
So, what does it look like to be a Game Changer that lives for Jesus? Well, this is a whole other level of courage entirely! Game Changers for Jesus not only demonstrate bravery, but they are often called to live in a way that the world perceives as completely opposite of courageous. Jesus puts it this way,
“For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it; but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.” Matthew 16:25
This logic seems counterintuitive, but Jesus insists that in order to keep something, we must give it up. To win the battle, we must surrender our cause. We must lay aside our own goals, dreams and desires for the sake of Christ’s purposes, placing absolute faith in the promise that His plans are better than our own.
Game Changers who risk everything for Jesus will face difficulty, but they will also find the greatest possible joy (Psalm 16:11). Living for a higher calling, with an eternal purpose, far surpasses any worldly gain or temporary success we could achieve. Risk-takers are those who see the worthiness of a life committed to Christ and go after it with everything they have.
